NAT and Shelter set new approach for assessing housing need
NAT (National AIDS Trust) has today launched a guide about HIV for housing officers. The guidance, produced in partnership with Shelter, follows a report1 in January which revealed evidence of poor practice in housing provision for people living with HIV. Research shows inappropriate housing has a detrimental effect on the health of someone living with HIV, with potentially life-threatening consequences.

One reason for this is that Local Authorities are not accessing the Dept. of Health budget allocated for repairs and capital expediture relaing to housing, for 2008/2009 which is a vast £3.2m.
Having already spoken to the DOH there has not been may requests to access this pot of funding for the current year.
It seems that whilst upon this planet and earth, those who choice to work, get paid for a position whatsoever, in the aim to provide support and assistance were necessary, wether it be housing, social services etc. and to uphold the responsabilities taken on, seems to be TO MUCH and HARD WORK.
Is it that with our voice and challenging these people that oly things get done and the true level of what is actually happening is reviled.
If NAT report is based on housing issues, the underlying fact and truth is that it goe further, Hospitals, Social Services, The Dept. of Works and Pensions........................
