Attended the All Party Parliamentary Group on HIV/AIDS this evening. This was a presentation by UNAIDS the United Nations HIV/AIDS body.
A good presentation.
After I was able to speak to the Chair of the APPG, David Borrows MP, and raise concerns over the benefit issues as well as the social issues for those living in the UK with HIV/AIDS post diagnosis. I had written to him a few weeks ago. A good conversation and start. I will publish his response when I get it.
He did mention that the group was working on issues around Stigma.
My main issue is that whereas the APPG does much work on the international stage, I am concerned that they seem to do little, outside of prevention, for the already diagnosed. That this can make them seem irrelevant to the indigenous UK HIV population. A theme that I will try and run with moving forward.
Afterwards it was good to meet fellow HIV Activists and it was good to hear they were familiar with ThCell and our activities. Thank you all very much for spreading the word.
