Employment and training

We are seeking UK wide collaborative programmes that enable people living with HIV to access training and support in order to gain employment, remain in employment and increase their income levels. Programmes should demonstrate how they aim to measure the impact of their interventions in relation to qualifications gained, reduction in unemployment levels, increases in income levels of people living with HIV and use of non HIV employment and training services.

If you have a programme that fits this part of the EJAF UK Grant Strategy it is worth contacting them.

Preparing or sorting out your affairs both in terms of your estate and your health is a sensitive area.  Currently, I can find, no national HIV organisation that offers a will or Living Will service for HIV+ people.  I have raised this with THT and will post back when I hear more.  The law changed recently on Living Wills so if you already have a Living Will it may well be worth reviewing it to make sure it is still 'legal'.

However, in order to provide some guidance you may be interested in the following -

THT produce a document called "Dealing with Death and Bereavement" - click here.

For information on Living Wills, THT Direct (0845 12 21 200) , when I called recommended;

Dignity in Dying - www.dignityindying.org.uk and there Advance decisions section.

Your local HIV service provider may provide a service so its worth calling them.

For making a will, for your estate.  It seems the common route now is via a solicitor you can find one via The Law Society website.

We always strongly recommend you get the appropriate advice, i.e. from a solicitor, on legal matters.

Remember you can always leave a legacy to a charity in your will - Remember a Charity

Here are some other sites from the web

Directgov - Making a will.

CAB - Wills.

If you are in a same sex relationship or in a civil partnership you may find the article "Ask a Lawyer: Should I make a will?" from pinknews.co.uk of interest.
