Even if you have been through the "review" process. Protecting what is written about you medically may be prudent for the future.

An emailed comment to a post but deserves highlighting.

"When giving out consent to the DWP all claimants should make authority to obtain information STRICTLY subject to certain requirements.  Uppermost should be that the DWP obtain medical information from your named consultant/s and not persons unknown to you.  You may stress that if information is obtained and supplied by other than the person/s you have named to the DWP then the information provider may be subject to legal action you reserve  all rights to seek compensation for any loss or damage incurred as a result of those actions, directly or indirectly.  You might also state that you have provided copies of your letter to  The Office of the Information Commissioner.  You should remind the hospital that to provide information without appropriate authority is a breach of the Human Rights Act under Your Right to a Private Life and to the Data Protections Act.   The DWP acting on information to your detriment in assessing your claim/review, information provided by anyone other than your consultant, contrary to your specific requirements for release of said information or a qualified physician to whom you are familiar as a patient is to give strong grounds for an appeal against such decision either at appeal or through a Court of Law.

You should copy your letters to your consultant/s and your General Practitioner and any legal representative or MP involved.  A copy to one  Mr Terry Moran, Chief Executive, Disability & Carers Service, 5th Floor, Whitehall 2, PO Box 39, Leeds LS88 8AJ may also prove helpful.   Retain a copy for our own records.
